In the fight against aging, cosmetic injections are gaining popularity at rapid pace. They cost a fraction of what one might pay for a facelift, take less time and give immediately visible results. For a modern woman on the go who wants to look her most youthful, they really are a great choice.

Types of Cosmetic Injectables

The key to achieving optimal results from your cosmetic injections is a choosing an injectable that suits your needs.  Essentially, there are two types.

Botox.
Botox is used to relax the muscle underneath the wrinkle. When Botox is injected into these muscles, it blocks nerve impulses and limits their activity. When you don’t use those muscles as much, the wrinkles are smoother and less noticeable, which effectively halts the aging process. The results one gets from Botox are significantly more long-lasting, but provide less room for facial movement and expression.

Wrinkle Fillers
These are an alternative to Botox. Instead of relaxing the muscle underneath the line or crease, fillers  fill it with one of several different substances. As a result, the line or crease seems to have nearly disappeared. Results are immediate and can last anywhere from four months or a year. Fillers are also used as “volumizers,” filling out thin lips,  lifting cheeks, and plumping sagging hands.  Some research shows that repeated injections may aid in stimulating the body’s own natural production of collagen. That will help reduce the number of lines and wrinkles. There is also some evidence that less filler is needed over time to achieve the same look. Popular wrinkle fillers include Juvederm injections and Restylane injections, both of which are available at Oregon Derma Center.

  • They require  little to no down-time for recovery.
  • Most injections show results almost immediately.

Should You Try Cosmetic Injectables?

Injectable treatments are definitely for you if most of your problem areas localised and you don’t have any loose or excess skin that needs to be removed. While the results are not as long lasting as plastic surgery, they do provide a more natural and relaxed look at a lower cost. Speak to your dermatologist to find out what injections might best suit your lifestyle needs.
